About Imperial Teas of Lincoln
Welcome to our website. For those of you familiar with our 'real' shop at 47 Steep Hill in Lincoln you will know what we are about! To those who have just found us on the web we hope the site will give you a flavour of our family run business and the passion with which it is driven. We will also continue to offer our usual telephone mail order service for those who prefer to talk to us. However, we hope that this new service will give those of you who work the same hours as we do, or indeed who are in a different time zone to ours, the opportunity to order out of hours.
Our shop has been open for 16 years in Lincoln and in that time we have drunk and learned a lot about tea and coffee. Our products are carefully chosen by ourselves from the thousands of samples sent to us each year by growers or their agents. We offer over four hundred types throughout the season, varying from the classic to the world's finest, truly rare lots. We are also offering small lots of tea that have been made exclusively for us to our specification. This is a mutually exciting adventure both for us and the growers. We hope you too will find it an equally exciting opportunity to share in. I will add at this point that some of these teas amount to as little as two kilograms so we can't share it that far! Obviously, availablity of these teas cannot be guaranteed all year round. So, providing you actually like tea or coffee or herbal tisanes we're sure you will find something within the shop to satisfy your taste buds. You will see we also offer a vast array of beautiful, elegant and practical tea and coffee making equipment to enhance your enjoyment. From Japanese ceremonial apparatus to D.I.Y teabags for those on the move or who like me must always carry their own tea!
As I am sure you are beginning to realise, our enterprise although business like is rooted firmly in the love of the world of tea and coffee. It is a relatively inexpensive pleasure to pursue by comparison to the similar world of wine or whisky and can be explored as lightly or as deeply as you care. I am still being surprised after 16 years.
When you enter the site you will be offered the choice of a few brief, by my standard, notes to help you choose a tea or coffee. I appreciate this is not an easy task when you have never tried the product before so if you click the product name you will be treated to a more elaborate description and photograph. Of course, however tempting my turns of phrase are, the only way to find out whether you like it for real is to try it! To help you do this in an economical way we offer most of our classic teas at the small weight of 100g and the more unusual and rare teas in even smaller packets.
