Grown in the birthplace of coffee, 8000 feet up in the rainforest, this coffee’s pedigree is equalled by its truly unique flavour. Rustic character, soft body and notes of cinnamon, spice and berries all complemented by an almost intoxicating wine-like aroma. Ethiopia produces some of the most exceptional and dramatic coffees found anywhere in the world. From the bright bergamot and floral Yirgachefa to the inky ripe fruit notes of this Harrar, these unique flavours have only recently started to fetch the prices they deserve in the export markets. The wet and dry processes used give these coffees their distinct characteristics. The peak harvest months are October to December. Harrar (Harer) is a region located on the Eastern side of Ethiopia. This coffee is distinguished by its wonderful blueberry and blackberry notes. Currently, this coffee is imported through the Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (OCFCU), which was founded in June of 1999. OCFCU is a union of 24 small cooperatives benefiting 22,700 smallholder farmer members.
