We have a new 'Gabalong' to add to our range of health teas, made from the delicious 'Ruby' cultivar from Taiwan.

Medium Roasted Coffees

We roast all of our coffees in the shop, which allows us to bring out the individual characteristics of each type on offer by varying the length of the roast. Medium roast, which covers a spectrum of colours, allows the best balance to be found between body, aroma and fruity acidity. The characteristics of the world's best arabicas. Whilst these coffees exhibit great differences in body, flavour and aroma they are typically known as 'mild' coffees. For those that like a stronger style of coffee please see our selection of darker roasted coffees.

 Galapagos Cristobal Island    £7.00
 100g
This rare and unusual coffee of superb quality is, naturally, grown without the use of chemicals. The plantation was founded in 1875 and planted with the old bourbon bean. San Cristobal, which has an abundance of fresh water, also has a unique microclimate and the required altitude to produce a rich flavoured, full bodied coffee balanced by a sweet acidity. In the early nineties the Gonzalez family revived the island’s Hacienda El Cafetal, which had been abandoned for many years. With further expansion of this plantation forbidden because of the archipelago’s great natural importance production of this coffee will never amount to more than 2000 bags a year. With three different sea currents - the Humboldt, El Nino and the Crownel having a profound effect on the climate, crop sizes are usually only around 500.
 Yemen Mocha    £9.00
 100g
A coffee of very rare and wild character, with a heavy body and exotic wine like flavour and aroma. This is the genuine much loved ‘mocha’ flavour associated with coffee’s first cultivated home. What little there is grown now is hand picked in the mountainous Bany Matar region. Truly unique.
Hawaiian Kona Extra Fancy Estate    £11.00
 100g
The slopes of Hawaii’s central island volcano Mauna Loa is home to a small number of coffee plantations. The island’s rich, volcanic soil lends an unmistakeable character to what is regarded as the most beautiful coffee bean in the world. Although grown at a lower altitude than the world’s other great coffees, the clouds that appear like clockwork each afternoon, plentiful rain, good shelter and the mineral rich soil, compensate this. Such smoothness, good body, rich flavour and exquisite aroma would usually only be found in coffee grown at greater heights such as Jamaican Blue Mountain. Beans of this quality are not found throughout Kona, what gives the coffee grown on this small estate the edge is that it is so carefully selected that workers can only harvest around twenty pounds of beans on a good day. This adds more expense to already high American labour prices but along with the equally impeccable processing, guarantees the ideal sugar and acid content for a perfect coffee.
Jamaican Blue Mountain RSW Plantation    £18.00
 100g
Blue Mt. has been called a "connoisseur’s delight" yielding a full flavour. It has balance, fruit and acidity with chocolatey tones and is characterised by an intense aroma. It is impeccably smooth, unique and sophisticated. We are pleased to be one of only three roasters in Europe offering this rarest of coffees.
