Assam Unique Teas

A number of the gardens that we work with are introducing teas manufactured in a very different style to the usual classic, fully oxidised or black teas we are used to. Where they succeed in creating something with a distinctive flavour and flare we are delighted to offer them on to our customers.

Product Name Price+ Weight
Hajua Garden Night Jasmine   Sample Packet Available £13.75
 100g
Experiments are afoot in a number of gardens in Assam to create the types of tea more usually found in China. This tea is made in large, rolled balls containing many buds of tea. The name is given because of its natural Indian Night Jasmine fragrance. Whilst this is arguably made as a white tea, it is much stronger in character than the Chinese variety and has more in common with Assam Golden Water from our range. It brews a lovely amber colour and has a typical spicy flavour, found in top class Assam teas, complemented by a smooth, clean finish. It is fun to watch the balls of tea unfurl slowly in the water. A tea recommended for those who enjoy white teas but looking for a slightly stronger character.
Hajua Garden Silk White Tea   Sample Packet Available £13.75
 100g
Experiments are afoot in a number of gardens in Assam to create the types of tea more usually found in China. This tea is made purely from the large, silver buds covered in silky hair. It is very reminiscent of the Chinese teas used to make our 'Display' or 'Flowering' teas. It brews a golden yellow colour and has a typically subtle flavour, found in top class White teas, complemented by a smooth, clean finish. It is fun to watch the silver buds of tea hanging and floating slowly in the water. A tea recommended for those who enjoy white teas but looking for a slightly stronger character.
'Golden Water' Dikom Gold   Sample Packet Available £30.00
 100g

This very rare tea from Assam with a crop of only 60kgs is produced in the Dikom garden, one of only two capable of making this type of tea. The long, golden tips are hand twisted and processed with exceptional skill. It has an almost dark chocolate fragrance and yields a light, silky but intensely flavoured infusion. Although being quite pale in colour for an Assam it is still perfectly at home with or without milk. It is best appreciated in its pure form but would add a touch of elegance to any blend of stronger Assam, such as our Breakfast tea when a stronger cup is required.
