Gabalong Health Tea
The special processing of this oolong tea raise the levels of Gamma Amino Butyric Acid up to ten times that found in other high quality teas. It is this GABA that is so good for us. Among its well researched benefits are lowering of blood pressure (do not take if you have hypo- tension) and prevention of cell mutation. Increases levels of human growth hormone which can help burn fat, eliminate cellulite, improve energy levels, cardiac output, skin elasticity, memory, endurance and bone mass. Taken one hour before bedtime it enables a deeper sleep and aids relaxation. It is a very good cure for a hangover! In Japan it is taken as part of the diet and is also given to children to stimulate mental alertness. Our Gabalong is made with high quality tea to guarantee maximum GABA content, twice the requirement to be classified as such a tea.

| This Gabalong oolong tea has almost twice as much GABA content than is required to be classified as Gaba tea. Although lacking the complexities of flavour found in Ali Shan, it has an incredibly rich flavour in the cup. Notes of caramel toffee are complemented by the ripe fruit flavours like cooked apples. There are also hints of chocolate and mountain flower notes that flicker in the cup as it cools. A healthy and delicious tea! |

| At last! This tea has taken so many attempts to get right, I thought it would never happen. The problem is that black tea processing destroys a large part of what you are trying to increase, namely Gamma Amino Butyric Acids. These healthy compounds need to reach the target of 150mg per 100ml to qualify as a 'Gabalong' tea. In order to make this, we have had to use tea leaves from very high up the mountains, where the best quality is found. Higher quality, higher 'Gaba' content to start with. Normally, these leaves are made into the famous 'Jade Oolong' of Taiwan and in actual fact the farmer we have worked with does not understand why we want to do this! However, we British love our black tea, our customers have asked for it and so it has arrived! Now, of course, this is no ordinary black tea and it's health benefits aside, is worth drinking for its delicious and complex flavour alone. It marries the best of 'Honey Hon Cha' and 'Buddha's Hand' black tea to create a unique character all it's own. When I say unique I mean it, as the 20kg batch that has been made is not available to anyone but us and our customers. Needless to say, if we are able to produce another batch, it will taste different. Now, I know that many of you will not be able to resist using this tea with milk! I am not sure what that will do to the 'Gaba' effect but of course will still contain, at a conservative guess, at least twenty times more than normal black tea. The tea does taste good with milk but needs to be brewed for at least 8 minutes if doing so. A tea cosy would be a good idea. If you drink it without, the tea will yield at least four tasty bowls, brewing for 1-2 minutes each time. Whichever way you try it, I hope you enjoy this very special tea. |

| This high grown, hand picked tea is grown on the Ali Mountain in central Taiwan. The special processing that increases the health giving Gamma Amino Butyric Acid content also changes the flavour of this tea too. It is very soft and mellow with a honey like quality that, health benefits aside, make it worthwhile drinking. To qualify as being a 'gabaron' tea and to give the required recommended dosage it must have 150mg per 100g of GABA. This batch has almost twice that amount. Please read the leading page for a guide to its many alleged (sorry, erring on the side of caution!) properties. I drink it an hour before bedtime as an aid to a good night's sleep..it would work if it wasn't for the children! |
