This stunning tea is grown on a farm at over 2400 metres above sea level on the Li or 'Pear' Mountain. This mountain grows Taiwan's finest teas and usually the best are kept in Taiwan. It is with great pleasure therefore that we are able to offer this one to our customers. You would have to take a very long flight and befriend a tea farmer to otherwise have this opportunity! It was one of the first offerings from the premium crop in mid-May. The gardens at this height produce teas much later and with smaller crops, just 7kg of this one, than the lower gardens but exemplify all that is incredible about one of the best teas in the world. The heady aroma of butterscotch and wildflowers, the deep fruity flavours in the refreshing, sweet infusion make it an experience not to miss if you love great tea. There are only a couple of gardens higher up on the mountain at 2600 and 2800 metres and we also carry these even more exquisite varieties too.

This is a tea for really bad days. If you have just suffered an aggressive company takeover, or a Coup d’etait and you are awaiting execution, then this is the tea to drink. On the first sip the world disappears as different layers of rich flavours roll around your mouth like the first gentle echoes of thunder around high mountains. It will leave a smile on your face under most circumstances. If you think these comments are a little over poetic then try this tea! I think I have been rather restrained. The leaves continue to yield fantastic flavours over subsequent infusions. A mellow smooth tea with plenty of aroma and tang. I used a Gaiwan and increased the first infusion to 4 minutes using 100ml spring water at 95 degrees C. and 2grams of leaf.
