With malty, citrus undertones and a sweet, floral, jasmine, cypress aroma, this tea typifies the famous character of Dimbula district teas. Details

With malty, citrus undertones and a sweet floral aroma, this tea typifies the famous character of Dimbula district teas. At the peak point of the year in February and March, the leaves are full of concentrated volatile oils, which allow tea makers to produce a distinctive, regional flavour profile. It has a fruity aftertaste with hints of blackcurrant leaf, which adds to the refreshing quality of its infusion. Between Nuwara Eliya and Horton Plains lies the district of Dimbula, whose teas are defined as “high grown” as all estates exceed an altitude of 1,250m (4000ft). The complex topography of the region produces a variety of microclimates, which produce differences in flavour with notes of jasmine and cypress. All, however, share the Dimbula character: a tea that produces a fine golden-orange hue in the cup, and which is refreshingly mellow. 1320

Customer Reviews

Review by Robin Phillips
This is strikingly different tea - essential oils seem to roll round the pot and the odd almost orange blossom like flavour tickles the front of your tongue every mouthful.
This is a nice sassy tea with a good lift. It brews fast and will brew dark if required. (Posted on 08/10/2008)
