Details

One of our most popular medium roasted coffees, Cloud Forest has the mild, smooth, full flavoured, balanced character that epitomises Central American coffees grown on the ‘Bourbon’ varietal of coffee bush. Cupping notes include cream, orange, black cherry, brown sugar, marmalade, black tea, cocoa, toffee, tangerine and nutmeg. Situated among the Ilamatepec Mountain Range in western El Salvador, Finca Portezuelo is an active coffee farm growing speciality coffee. The farm is also a nature preserve that offers tours, ecotourism, and breathtaking views. Rich drinkable spring water is abundant at the slopes of El Portezuelo, contributing to a clean cup in this washed coffee. Doña Elsa Luz Avila de Alfaro, youngest sister of the Avila Magaña family, proudly follows the tradition of her ancestors by practising environmental stewardship in the growth of Bourbon coffee nurtured by the shade of ‘Inga’ trees. This coffee has Rainforest Alliance certification. To be RFA certified implies standards that are intended to protect the environment and the rights of workers. This certification allows the farmers to have a sustainable farm-management system, control costs, increase efficiency, improve crop quality, and maintain wildlife habitat. The certification ensures consumers that the Rainforest Alliance certified coffee that they drink supports sustainable supply and it also demonstrates the importance of responsible coffee sourcing. The slopes of El Portezuelo are teeming with fresh, drinkable water originating from the untouched springs atop the hills of the farm. This area is home to many species of native birds and rare butterflies, and nearby residents often see deer in the area. The entrance to the farm is also a nature preserve and ecotourism destination, offering hiking tours, horseback riding, a ropes course, and a cafe.

i have been a regular visitor to your shop for probably 10 years now and have tried *almost* all of your coffees, this is still my all time favourite. outshines many at more than double its price. if you ever decide to stop selling it give me advance notice and i\'ll buy a sack and put it into cryogenic suspension to see me through my later years. =0) (Posted on 29/12/2012)

I\'m not going to say I\'m a coffee expert, far from it, but when I tried this at Pimento in Lincoln I had my friends taste it and all agreed it was the nicest coffee all four of us had ever had!

As the description says, it has a sweet, chocolatey taste... I usually like a sugar in my coffee, but this just didn\'t need it.
Well, there you have it... the first beverage I have ever felt the urge to write a review for... awesome stuff!! (Posted on 15/12/2008)
